Threat To The Environment
Nelson Aggregate expansion proposal is a huge threat to the environment.
Nelson Aggregate Operations
Nelson Aggregate currently operates on Mount Nemo yet is trying to expand to the west and south side which will have costly effects on the community, wildlife but most of all the environment. The site was once part of many ecosystems that thrived with farmlands and trees but over the 70 years the land has been turned into a open pit gravel grave.
125 Acres of Farmland Forest and Green Space At Risk
If Nelson Aggregate proceed with the on the west side they will destroy 125 acres of farmland, forestry, and greenspace. In addition many habitats will be destroyed for wildlife, one of the most notable being the Jefferson Salamander habitat which is an endangered species that resides in the area.
